different types of shotguns?
Hey guys, I'm new to the forums here. I'm 19 years old and I just got into hunting. Next fall I will be doing a lot of hunting with my family and on my own. I have a lot to learn however between now and then and I'm glad I found this excellent resource to help answer the questions I can't get answered any where else. Although I have shot a pump shot gun several times before, that's the only kind. I was wondering if someone could explain to me the different types of shotguns just so I understand what people are talking about so I don't have to just nod like an idiot.

RE: different types of shotguns?
check your PM's. Deerslayer pretty much covered it. The double barreled guns (particularly the over-unders) are liked for competition shooting. Side-by-Side are my favorite but you'll not find many who share my opinion.
You'll hear guys talk about chokes. From largest pattern to smallest pattern you've got Cylinder, Skeet, Imp. Cylinder, Skeet II, Mod, Imp. Mod, Full, Extra Full.
Also, if someone is talking about shot size, they're talking about the size of the pellets that are in their shotshells. 8,71/2,6 are the most common. Like the gauges of the guns the smaller the number the bigger the shot.
