Well my dad was local cop and used to carry his .40 Glock even when he went hunting. He carried alittle gun with snake rounds in it. I can't remember the calibur right now but i'll look for it later and then i'll tell you.

No problem on the reply. Well i don't know for a fact about the bottom of the ocean for a year but it might very well could fire for all i know. I know when on field tests before the glock became the big deal they would do some harsh tests. Its one of the very few, it not the only, that can be fired under water. They also dropped it from 10 feets, from moving vehicles, set on fire, etc etc. Very cool guns.

Dont carry pistols unless im hog hunting, and even thats rare. I started carrying a .22 if i go to check a friends traps, or to shoot coyotes. If i take one, its a .357 mag. Not the biggest, but it does fine.

You better check your local laws and regulations before carrying a pistol in the woods while hunting biggame. Here you can only carry a pistol during bow season IF you have a concealed carry permit and you have to be 21 to get that.
