at long ranges the 06 would be waay more acurate then a 243. the 06 is a heavier bullet and wont be as effected by wind drift as much as the lighter 243. if you friend is right then why were so many police dept. using 3006's/308's as sniper rifles instead of 243's. granted the 43 if flatter shooting but at long ranges it also isnt carrying the energy the 06 is either. there a lot more points and examples and bal. coef. i could give you but i dont feel like typing it all tonight lol

I'm rooting for the .243, i've heard it has a nice jab along with being a submission specialist.

Also think the .243 shoots more accurately.

wrong wrong wrong. both cartridges w/ shoot m.o.a. groups side by side. speed doesnt mean nothin flat shooting really means nothing. its what ever bullet will stablize and handle the wind. remeber he said long range. an 06 w/ a 168gr match will shoot 700/800 yds more accuratley then a 243 all day long w/ a 2 MPH wind

As for more accuracy that will vary by alot of different things. As for the 243 shooting farther i dont know about that. I think the 30-06 would shoot farther because the heavier bullets would retain more velocity for longer then the 243 rounds.

i should end this right now by saying that you and your friend are comparing apples to oranges and theres really NO comparison.......its not like your saying a 257 roberts vs. a 243 or a 30/06 vs a 35 whelen or somethin like that. a balistics chart will give you velocities and trejectories but thats on paper not real world performances
