eleminate the .410, and then out of those two, either will work, it is easier to find 12guage ammo, if you dont feel comfortable with the 12, go with the 16

youre big enough for the 12, i started shooting a 12 when i turned 11, and i was pretty little then too.
the recoil shouldnt bother you a bit

Get a 10 gauge. My grandpa has one and he told me that it didnt kick at all (i was stupid at the time) so i take it out back and try and hit a popcan. I couldn't feel my shoulder after that

ORIGINAL: Hooker

Definitely go with the 10 gauge.

welll first off you said water fowl. the only gauge you mentioned that they make steel shot for is the 12. ide say the 12 if thats wh6t you have. 2 3/4 #4/#6 will woprk perfectly on everything from teal to big old blacks and big drake mallards. i use a 20ga myself only because i shoot it well and dont like jumping back and fourth w/ shotguns. rifles doesnt bother me but a shot gun should almost be fired when it hits your shoulder and my 20 fits perfect and im used to it. w/ that said, if you had a 20 ga you could use ide buy a coulple boxes of kent fast steel in #2 and #4 7/8oz. works beautifully. have fun!

hes big enough that he doesnt need the 2 3/4 " 12 ga. shells. and for the pellet size it really all depends on what youre expecting to shoot, ranges, etc...
but skybusters right, shoot what fits you best. i imagine a 12 will work for you, but not everyone is the same

i shoot 2/34 cuz i can load them faster then 3 and 3.5 plus its only ducks, you def dont need 3" to kill them

it doesnt matter 20 ga or 12 ga both shooting #4 pellets going the same speed, they hit w/ equally as much power. the only differanc is pellet quanity which doesnt really matter to me. i think it makes you a better shot. i shoot improved mod and 7/8oz #4 and kill ALL water fowl w/ that one gun

the pellet quantity is a big difference for me. i dont shoot anything but 3 inch, unless im dove hunting. but i guarentee you, that youre a better shot than i am, being able to shoot a 20 gauge, withonly a 2 3/4".
to be honest i dont really duck hunt anymore, got pretty burnt out after my dad became a guide
