I am tring to get info on how to make the fastest pinewood derby car for my sister. Has anyone raced in one before? If so any ideas would be helpful.

I did in boy scouts, i won 1st place 4 times and best of show 5 times. We made my pinewood derby car into a few nascar cars and a craftsman truck, my dad and i. You have to really make sure the wheels are as straight as possible and there is nothing slowing the wheels. Second make it as aerodynamic as possible. Third your car will be going downhill, thus most of the weight should be near the front. Fourth, get it as light as possible per regulations including the weight you have to put in it.

When I was in the boy scouts I had the fastest car. I just made the one on the front of the box. I made it heveyer than the other ones so it was fast. More weight= more momentum.

True... you want it as heavy in the front as possible, not light. God its been years since boyscouts

I quit the boy scouts when I was 9. Because all my freinds quit and I was all alone. But I have better ways to spend my time now, I play with deadly weapons(bows) and work on cars.

I remember that... I probably had the coolest car there, but I lost. Try to make it really flat, really smooth, low to the ground, and put lots of grease on the wheels.
