I am by no means an archery expert, but I can tell you the two are totally different.
If your current bow works, why replace it. If you want a new challenge, go to an archery shop and check out recurves. Compare.

RE: compound vs recurve
i tried a recurve about 2 years ago. It was awesome! I was too caught up with the new compounds and it was too easy with a sight. Shooting a recurve well takes time, but its definetly worth it. I am not looking back to compounds. I still hunt with my compound once in a while, but by next season, i think it will be sitting at home during my hunts. If you have the patience, try a recurve. I would look for a used one and buy it this winter, because the more time you have to practice, the better. Whatever you choose, hope you enjoy your new bow!

I enjoy shooting my long bow, but am no where near efficient enough to take it afield, nor do I really want to. I like shooting the longbow and targets, stumps, etc. I'll keep the real hardcore hunting to the HOYT TRYKON
