Would I feel bad
Hey ya'll! I have a question. I am about to start hunting with my dad. I want to shoot a deer, but I don't. Because, I'm afraid I'll feel bad.<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Yep, you may feel kinda bad. I mean, you'll be killing something, we usually all feel some emotion when we kill an animal. But it'll only be temporary, the good feelings way outweigh the bad ones...

My heart belongs to my family...
But my soul...belongs to the woods.

RE: Would I feel bad
here's how i see it.
without hunters deer would overpopulate and starve to death or get diseases or get ran over by cars.
now with hunters they get hit by a bullet and usually drop right their with no a whole lot of suffering.
ever seen national geographic stuff where the animals die by getting little chunks taken out of them? well hunting is much more ethical because the kill is much quicker and involves suffering for a shorter amount of time for the animal.
yes you do feel emotion, its hard sometimes but i always feel like we're doing it for the better of that animal species.

I agree with everyone but jjoel the most. Humans have been hunting ever since time began and to me, eating a hambuger isn't much different then shooting a deer. Cows are either shot or have their throats cut (or maybe different now) so its only nature to feel bad about shooting a deer or whatever so its all good though and after you get your first deer, it won't be as hard after that. Just always respect what you hunt, that is what i do. Good luck to you in the future and welcome to the board by the way

RE: Would I feel bad
i think that hunting is much better than eating cows and chickens... they never had a chance... the second they were born their only purpose in life is to die horribly and end up in some supermarket and most of it spoils and the life was wasted for nothing... if you ask me i think that cows should be treated just as horses are... they are just as beautiful and should be given the same respect... by hunting you are giving the animal a chance to live... you arent flat out killing it... you are hunting it... chasing it... living for a short while with it... it can get away or it can be taken.... thats how i see it
