Bridging streams

RE: Bridging streams
Thanks for the replies folks, I think I'm going to go with a bridge over the creek and use the cables tied to trees to kinda hold it in place during high water. Here in Mississippi we call this type of terrain a "branch". It's actually a stream in a 40 ft bottom full of hardwoods and briars and thorny vines. . . .a real nasty place to navigate. Iv'e decided to observe it right after a few heavy rains to get a handle on what the stream does. Also I've noticed that new water courses appear seemingly overnight in some places due to the mulchy bottom. Could be that over the course of time I may have to build more than just one bridge if I don't find a pretty stable area to start with.

Rack buck if you lived around here I would give ya a plastic, fiberglass bridge that we used to drive cars over. It would need a tractor to be moved from its resting place. Its about 10-12 feet. Where are you located? Im in nc/va

cool thread fellars!
double creek, i've heard about "scrap" telephone poles, but haven't located any.... are they relatively well preserved for more years in the great outdoors, or are they being taken out of commission for a reason? i was thinking about building a tower stand w/ poles in place of 4x4's.
