Default What Would Farmer plant Now?

Live in upstate NY,It is late July fields have just been plowed the last couple of weeks,what would be being planted this late in the month?Is it to late for soybeans,thats what was planted last year?

Could easily be beans again. They have a short period required to mature.

late soybeans are a great fall draw. i always plant some in mid august depending on moisture.winter wheat is another option.

Both are good. The real question is, have you done soil samples and followed the recommendations for lime and fertilizer??? Did you Round-Up the fields before you plowed? Soil prep is the real issue, planting is the after thought.
There are some great ag plant varieties and some great new Fall/Winter/Early Spring targeted seed blends available. What type of soil do you have and how large is the area' s to be planted?

Could it be plow for preparation of fall wheat planting? Seems late for soybeans to me as well for NY.

Get with the farmer and discuss the situation and start educating yourself on the soil... Or are you asking what the farmer may be planting???
