To late to plant a Food Plot in NY?

RE: To late to plant a Food Plot in NY?
Depends on the clover. White Clovers (perennial) will focus on root devolopment the first year and will have little top growth. This will provide for a stronger plant next spring. The annual clovers (like Crimson) will put out top growth until the first frost.
I would put out a plot with something like turnip (forage or Purple Top) and rape. You should have enough growing season left to get a good crop.
If you plan on intensive food plot work in this location next spring I would put down something that will help amend the soil. I like Crimson Clover and Austrian Winter Peas. This will help put some nitrogen innto the soil, provide the deer with a good food source and when plowed under in the spring it will provide the food plot some organic matter to help improve the soil.
Just my $.02
Hope it helps.
