Best time to plant food plots?
What is the best time to plant food plots or crops around your hunting stand? Is it best to do it know or to wait a little closer to season? I am more curious about spot planting through the woods near my stand.

I believe in the kind of plots you are talking about clover, cereal grains, and brassicas would be better. Plant them in the fall. Planting bean and corn will need a couple of acres to be effective.

RE: Best time to plant food plots?
If you have a chance, please read my post - "Food Plot Basics - Do's and Don'ts". This information comes from 10+ years of food plots mishaps and successes. In MO, you can plant most anything depending on your soil conditions. Please read the post, and then tell me about your soil conditions (sandy hills, wet bottom land, sparse tree cover, open prarie, etc); I'll offer some thoughts on what to plant.................... Thanks, steve
