Default Our 2007 Plots - 8-20 *New* Update with Pictures (go to end page 2!)

Well - 2007 has turned out to be quite dry this spring - and allowed ust to get all the corn, Soybeans, and clover in by May 20th. Its not a record - but its good news for ust to be sure.

Here's a few pics from this Spring -

The Corn & Soybeans both popped out of the ground this weekend - Memorial Day Weekend.

Lots of other planting/habitat projects going on. But no pics to share for most of it yet.

We put in 5-6 acres of corn, 2-3 acres of Soybeans and planted 3 new acres into Clovers, to supplement our 3-4 acres of clovers already established. This year's plan also includes som Buck Forage Oats and Turnips/Brassicas for fall - Maybe even a Rye plot if time/money permit.

FH

Thanks guys - you'll get sick of my pictures by the end of the summer

This plot is a Gas Pipeline Plot. Last year - 1/2 of it was a Brassica Planting - overseeded with White Clover. The other 1/2 was just mowed grasses.I mowed it this past weekend - the brassicas remaining (mostly rapeseed) was flowering yellow - in hopes of getting the clover going stong. There's some grasses that still exist - so the plot isn't a slam dunk, but its gota good start and good nutrient levels.

The other 1/2 will get sprayed with roundup in June - and planted into a Fall Brassica Planing in July.

**** Last year's brassica plot - Sept Look - veiw from other Direction****

The deer liked it fine - but it was January and in deep snow before they really keyed in on them. The Fall/Early Winter was MILD - so that might be more the issue that they were not much utilized until Jan.- but we'll give it another try this fall based on the Mid-winter use.

Thanks - FH

FH, keep the updates coming. I always look forward to your posts as they are informative and I am ocated in the same general vicinity, so you dates are the same as mine for planting. I am having a little trouble locating RR soybeans, and I know you gave me an address before, could you shoot it to me one more time. The B'Ville agway does not have any. Than ks.

After a couple weeks growth- I took a couple pics of two of the 4 corn plots - the beans are coming too - and the clover has germinated - but not much to see yet. We'll spray the corn & beans (roundup) in the next 2-3 weeks. I mowed some grass & clovers last week too.

I also had mowed my lowland miniplot 2 weeks ago - and sprayed it with roundup on 6-10. I'll plant a clover mix here in a couple weeks now that its dried out enough to plant.I'll mix in some soybeans too and plan on hunting over it in early bow season at least some.

Looks good FH. Your last year's brassica plot looked nice. With all of the warm weather last fall, it wasnt the best year to try out a brassica plot. I usually plant my brassica in the spring, thisyear I didnt. I still want to plant some. What month did you plant yours? July?

Nice looking plots Farm Hunter. The brush line looks a lot fuller than earlier pictures.

PS: put some air in your tires
