Finaly got the seed in .
Went up to the hunting lot last week and tilled all practicaly all day with my NEW HOLLAND TC 30 Tractor and 5 ft. tiller .
Late in the same day I planted abought 1 and 1/2 acers of Tecomate Ultra forage . also some red and white clover mix .in different locations that are over a hundred yards long and anywerer from 30 to 60 feet wide .
I no the Tecomate says great for fall planting , but I figured I,d try it in the late spring do to not much luck with fall planting over the last 2 years .
It also says later on the turnip and others will mature and to mow it after abought 8 inches high or so .
A few days later I went up and tried some new seeds from a company called Whitetail Micro-Plotters in a 100 yard strip abought 25 ft. or so wide . I planted 7 different mixtures marking each off with stakes to see witch will grow best ,
I also added some regular turnip seeds from store bought packegase .
Yesterday I went to the lot and planted 3 apple trees after carfuly placing them where they will benefit me the most .
A few days after the seed was planted we got abought 3 days of slow steady to light rain . I noticed alittle green coming up .
It sure is a lot of work , especialy doing it all alone ..
Anyways hope it all produces better than the fall planting reslts .
ps, whens the best time to put down a little fertalizer and what would work best ?? Thanks..

A brassica based plot just doesn't seem to interest deer much when planted at the wrong time, such asthe Spring. Now the planting will mature far earlier and loose most of their attractiveness well before the hunting season opens. You'll simply end up with a plot of slowly rotting turnips by Fall. A person should take the manufacturers planting suggestions seriously, in my experience. Good luck

Yes , but Ive planted numerious plots late summer . early fall and had very little growth ?
Ive have soil ph tested locally and had to ad some additive to lower the ph level a little .
The soil veries some from semi clay to gravely .
Anyways , hopefully I get decent growth on everything planted , I guess time will tell ..
