No comparison between the 243 vs 260. The velocity is slightly higher to 200 yards for 95gr 243 bullet vs 120gr 260 of comparable style but after that the 260 maintains and gets an edge in velocity. In terms of energy their is no comparison between the 2 as the 260 will produce in the area of 400 plus more FPE through all ranges making it a 500 yard choice vs a 300..if you go by 1000 FPE as a guideline. This is really an apple to orange comparison IMO.

it's not that i don't believe you i'm just going by what i know. i guess i was mislead in the power of the 260 but i had never really looked into it much. but ballistic wise being close i was talking about with bullets of pretty close weight. i'm sure a 156 gr bullet would definately do the job and your moose shows it. i've never really looked up anything about the 260 i was just going by what i had learned from other people.

In reply to . . . . ."if i'm not mistakened isn't the 260 pretty close to the 243?"

Yepper the .260 is the same basic brass just necked up a bit. I think the .308 is the same as well.

The mid sized 6.5mms are capable of killin' any non dangerous game, and a lot of the dangerous stuff as well. Victorian age Brits used the early 6.5s in Africa on everything to good effect.
