gut hook or not

RE: gut hook or not
I have a Buck with a gut hook and absolutely love it. Most other brands are probably just as good. It's a breeze to use down the stomach but what impressed me the most was this year when I caped my buck and cut down the front legs where the brown and white meet. It makes it so much easier than just using a regular drop point!

The buck alpha crosslock is the best. This is a folding knife... saw, blade, guthook, light weight, fits in your palm, well engineered. Saw is great for trimming shooting lanes or sawing the pelvic bone. Honestly, unless you lean toward the macho image in your choice of knives, this knife is the absolute best practical, useful knife available. I read a thread on " what's your favorite knife" and some smart fellow posted this knife. I checked the websites on them all and concluded this was the best. Since then I've used it to dress and butcher my deer, and have to say it IS the best. I thank the guy that posted it, and want to return the favor. Be sure to get the newer model ( the blades lock).

my favorite gutting and skinning knife would be the wyoming knife. it has the double razor blade replaceable deal. it has a gut hook and about a 1.5 or 2 inch blade. both are razor sharp and very helpful. you don't have to switch knives just switch how you're holding. if i'm not mistakened bass pro sells them and i think cabela's might. so check it out it's pretty cool.
