RE: What's everyone's experience?
I'm 42 and have been hunting (primarily bowhunting) for 20 years now. I used to tag along with my Dad when I was a kid and he still hunted. He doesn't go hunting anymore, but likes to hear the stories.
Today's small bucks are tomorrow's trophies.

Hello and welcome aboard!!! I am 30 years old and have been hunting since I was 7. Have hunted everything legal in the state of Iowa and continue to do so now. Taking my first trip out of state for mule deer and antelope in Wyoming this year so am looking forward to learning a different style of hunting this year.

I'll be 50 in Oct. been hunting rabbits and squirrels since I was 12. I live in east central Indiana. There were no deer around when I was a kid. Hell, I don't even think we had a deer season till I got out of the army in 74.

RE: What's everyone's experience?
Don't want to be left out....I turned 30 (oh my god where did the time go) this year. I have been hunting only for about 5 years. I always liked to shoot, but never really had the urge to hunt. Then I went out with my uncle, with a shotgun, and have been hooked ever since. 1st year Shotgun only. 2nd year shotgun & bow. 3rd year shotgun, bow & muzzleloader. Last year Shotgun & Rifle (different county), bow and muzzleloader. Point is I don't let a deer season go by without me being out in it. I haven't been too successful yet, only one doe, but I do enjoy myself.
This year I'm going to try some new areas, and maybe even cross the river and try for a Black Bear in Greene County.
I'll let you know how I make out. Also, just to let you all know, as a new and inexperienced hunter I have found the advice offered on this board to be indespesible, it is appreciated.
I'll take good luck over skill any day!

RE: What's everyone's experience?
Welcome Phade....
I liked Txbowhuntr's Resume...Here's mine..
45 years old......
8-10 shot birds, bees, cats, windows and cans with a sling shot and
bb gun. Also trapped birds with a bushell basket lid proped up
with a stick about 6" long and a long string tied to the stick.
I put bait under the lid and hid where I could watch the lid.
When the birds stopped to eat, I pulled the string while hid
behind a tree or something......
10 Hunted squirrls,& rabbits with 22 rifle
11-16 Bought my first shotgun. Continued to squirrl hunt and began
to bird hunt. The birds were Dove, Quail, and Wood Ducks.
16-18 Got my first high powered rifle and started deer hunting.
18-21 College (not much hunting)
21-43 Work Career (very little hunting)
43 Learned that no play and all work was unhealthy, so I started
bow hunting! Best move I've ever made.....The great
outdoors is the best medicine on the market...Bow
hunting is the best! Killing a deer is next best!

RE: What's everyone's experience?
I 37 and I can honestly say that I am the ROOKIE on this topic. I've been hunting now for 3 weeks. <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle> A friend loaned me a 12g and took me for the Texas Dove opener on 9/1. Well, that's all it took. I was hooked. I now have all my camo, a 12g of my own, etc. etc. etc. Expensive getting started at first tho...
Other hunting experience? Well... if you count USMC experience hunting critters in the Saudy desert... hehe.. they ran faster than the doves fly...
I'm still trying to decide which weapon to purchase for deer hunting. These groups have been very informative and I'm leaning towards a .270. But oh well... that's another topic.

Phade, welcome to the board! I am 42 years old, and have been hunting since I was 12. Started bowhunting at 13, and got my first buck with a bow at 14. Thirty years hunting and 80 big game animals later, I still learn something new, or see something I never saw before every time out! That`s why I can`t wait to go hunting every chance I get.
