Thanks to everyone.

I guess I should change my profile. I am from Texas, but I am currently in the Army stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. This deer was shot on the Tennessee side of the military reservation.

I was talking to a guy about the hole in the antler, and he said that a taxidermist once told him that it's from a bee sting while in velvet. Just hearsay, but seems like a reasonable explanation to me.

>>>> That's a very nice chocolate horned buck. No doubt I'd have dropped the hammer on this guy on public land, but he is not a 160 class deer based on the photo.
