wholelottagobble i'm with you. i have a physical job unlike some that sit at a desk and play on here while at work.
i like the ease and yep even laziness of a four wheeler!
I wonder if some just don't like them cause they can't afford one??
but honestly if one can't use it alot i guess theres no reason to have one. mine don't sit long without use.

You don't have a flipin clue of what I am talking about. In our state those who are handicapped or physically chalanged are allowed to use them for hunting. This includes being able to lawfully shoot off of them. Thats what I was talking about when I say Physically unable to handle the rigors of hunting. I would be elegible to use one as I am partally handicapped as well. I also said that we have them and use them for hauling out big game like elk and bear. Yes and even deer from some areas. I have no problem with how other people hunt and if you check many of my posts over the years you will see that that is true. Its true that I have seen off road outfits and dirt bikes abusing the use of such vehicals. It was not all in the Dakotas as I have seen quite a bit of it in Canada as well. Anyone who is not concerned about any kind of hunting abuse is not doing our sport any favors. I hunt in ways that are legal where I hunt. Thats all I expect from anyone else. So anyone here who thinks I am knocking the way you hunt has several loose screws in thier head. I wish I did still need to grow up. Then I wouldn't be so old.

soarkrebel, first off, congrats to your son and the success he's had at an early age. And I agree that deer will become accustomed to the sounds and smells of atvs, but where my dad and I hunt, thats not the case. we hunt on public land, but its well over a mile from any road or trail and atv's are very seldom around there if at all other than when dad rides his in. You're entitled to your opinion, but I STILL think that having an atv close hurts his chances. And as far as "changing his stand location", he's very limited as to where he can ride to because of the kind of terrain we hunt. For the record, I do take a 4-wheeler with me hunting, but it stays in the truck unless I need it to pack one out. Like I said in the other post, this is just MY experience with atvs.

I wish I had a Four wheeler, But I do think the deer are spooked by them. And as far as feeders go, All I do is spread corn on the ground. If I had one I would sure use it, It would be nice to have dragging big daddy out of the woods. But Im sure big daddy knows whats up thats why ya havent seen em..

In Minnesota, laws regulate the hours that hunters can operate ATVs (unless it's on their own land):Before and after legal shooting hours, and from 11am - 2pm. Sensible law, IMO.
I guess I was more of a purist in my younger days, but as with most things, idealism yields to pragmatism as I age. I don't change my own oil or get out of the car to open the garage door these days. I bought a self-propelled lawnmower this summer. I don't insist that my wife churn our butter by hand anymore
As long as the ATV guys don't encroach on the primal guys, and the primal guys don't act self-righteous around the ATV guys, we can all get along.
