I as a bow hunter would be the first to admit as well that it looks like some damage from a broadhead. I myself have taken a couple of deer with open wounds on them a lot like this one has. One had a broadhead burried in it's shoulder, and we lost the whole quarter. The other; HOWEVER, had a larger open wound on it's back a little bigger than this one. When we skinned him out, we lost half the deer. The only thing we could figure and so far nobody here has mentioned it, but it could be from a run in with a vehicle. Just a thought before pointing too many fingers at a bow hunter......lol

Nice to see you back strut. First thing that comes to mind is: Why would someone shoot at that little guy when there are bigger bucks around your area? I have no idea what that wound could be from, never seen any wounded deer alive...

from the placement of the wound right above the shoulder looks like he jumped the string on a bow, i dont think antlers would hit him that far back

Ears do look small, I have heard that inbreeding can cause small ears. The wound is probibly infected but deer live through alot of stuff they are tough.
