one of my favorite sounds in the woods is hearing a faint csh,csh,csh,csh get louder and finally spotting the deer that is heading your way.
another thing i love about being out in the woods in the fall/winter is I can sleep like a baby while out in the woods just leaning up against a tree or next to one. some late mornings if im not hunting a buck or have already filled my buck tags i'll just have a seat and sleep for a couple hours. honestly i usually dont mean to sleep at all, just something about sitting out in the woods just relaxes me and puts me to sleep if i let it.

To me, its the whole experience of just being out there with mother nature. Whether I'm on stand or propped up against a big oak waiting on that longbeard, thats "hunting" to me. If I happen to take an animal, thats just icing on the cake. As for my favorite time to be out there, its when the "woods" start to wake up.

some of my favorite things about the woods is the sound of the wind blowing in the trees...the smell of the trees...the peace and quiet....getting out in the fresh air...having time to myself and getting away from the stress back home...seeing the animals run around free....i mean come on what is there not to love about the woods right?

I love the smell of fresh fir pitch on my hands from pushing the branches out of my way,the echo of a mature bull elk bugelin accross a canyon or the the feel of my neck hair standing on end from the sound of a wild turkey gobbler.and last but not least the sight of my pickup after the last load of elk meat.

it gives me a great deal of time to reflect and think about how much my friends and family mean to me.i like very simple things and it takes very little to please me.

I like the way that a tree gently sways when you're sitting in a climber about 25-30 feet up. It's sooo relaxing and comforting.

However, sometimes I get a rumble sensation that comes up the trunk of a tree. Took me awhile to figure it out. Actually, it pretty much alarmed me at first. Finally figured out that it was the vibration from a crew dynamiting bedrock a looonnng ways away.... [:-]

The woods to me are like a drug, my senses drink it all in, the aroma that rises up when you are clearing off the leaves and sticks from your stand, that very faint musky smell of a deer, the smell of honeysuckle, the crows raising hades with an owl, the sounds of squirrels cutting nuts, the honking of geese passing over, the sound of the wind moving through the forest, the babble of a brook or the sound of a small waterfall. Then there is the total rush of hearing that twig snap..........

I love the whole outdoors. The smell of fresh air is my favorite thing. Then the sound of animals scurrying around. I mean, I am walking through THEIR dining room, living room, etc... and I always respect nature. What I carry in, I carry out. Like Taz said, the sound of a twig snapping always gets my heart jumping too.

I love the smell of fall, theres just something about it. When all the leaves change and it starts getting colder. That smell in the air just drives me wild, no matter what mood im in i always cheer up when fall is coming. Then theres the sound of game approaching you through the dry leaves on the ground, its enough to make your heart jump through your chest.
