RE: what rifle???
I used the 243 for both worked well. I decided to take a slight step up to the 6mm Remington which all it amounts to is like a souped up 243. O well. Atleast i got a new gun outta it . With properly placed shots and a 100 grain bullet the 243 wont let ya down!

You may also want to consider the 25-06. The advice I was given before I bought my 25-06 was that if you were going to use it for mostly coyotes with an occasional deer, go with the .243. If you were going to use it for mostly deer with an occasional coyote go with the 25-06.

A good selection for the 2 animals you are after. I'd just work up a 100 grain load that works great for deer and use it on the yotes as well. It will likely pass through without a lot of expansion as the yote is smaller and softer than most deer. If you're not concerend about the pelt you could shoot something smaller and lighter at the yotes.

The 243 is a good caliber for varmits and deer and will do a good job on either if you do your part. For deer i'd look at the 100gr partition and i don't think you will be disappointed in it's performance on deer from that caliber.
I'm also a big fan of the 25.06 and have to agree with stress, if your going to be deer hunting more than varmits then i'd opt for the 25.06 over the 243. The 25.06 is also a good combination varmit and deer caliber. Good luck.
