I always find them when I am not looking for them. I've only found 2 while actually looking for sheds, and they matched!! I find most of mine just scouting and tooling around on roads and fields.

The only time I have ever found a shed was when I wasn't expecting it! Going 40 mph on a back country road in the mountains near my house, looking out the window at the landscape. Just as we were passing this hill right next to the road I see this tine sticking out of the ground at the top of the hill. Turned out to be an elk shed that if it wasn't broken after the dagger tine indivdual score for it would have been 182"!

Deer902- way to go finding that shed! I haven't actively looked for sheds until this year, but I walked several miles only to find.... NADA! Any that you find are exciting. He'll be a really nice buck next year! Maybe you'll be able to find his antlers next year during hunting season while they're still attached to his head!
Thanks for sharing the picture...
