Antlers dropped in Illinois !
In case anybody is wondering when the deer are losing their coatracks in the midwest...
I see whitetails every day at work.
Two weeks ago, I saw several that still had their antlers, but in the last two weeks I have seen three bucks without.
TIME TO LOOK FOR SOME SHEDS !!
Keep 'em all in the Bull.

RE: Antlers dropped in Illinois !
Bulzeye; I found a matching set of antlers from a large racked buck on jan 22.2002, I also have the matching sheds from this same buck from last year and one from him from 2 years prior. I went out tuesday to look for antlers again but found no new ones but the kicker is that in the field i found a old antler half buried proably by tilling and it looks like the same bucks antler from when he was just a little one( looks like a minature version of the rack he has now). Gonna keep looking. To me its the next best thing to hunting.

RE: Antlers dropped in Illinois !
I killed my buck in Va. on Jan. 3 and drug him by his antlers, I have to say it is funny how some deer will hold their antlers much longer than others even in the same areas. I wonder if all things are equal if thier age determines whether they drop them earlier or later than others?

It seems the entire herd is dropping them within 2 or 3 three weeks.
LADY FORGE: That's a great story about finding sheds from several years from the same animal. That is my goal: Get sheds from several years and display them around the buck's final set (still attached to his head of course)
