What's the toughest animal to hunt?
Which big game species is the most difficult to hunt, is it the elk, whitetail, moose, or sheep, and what's your reason's? I hunted various animals and for me its a toss up between the elk and whitetail deer, what say you?

Around here it would be 3-5 yr old doe after three gun seasons and you head back out with the bow. They are as jumpy then as i ever see them. The coyote also after a couple snow backed weekends and all the pickups chasing them.

It would depend on the situation ,terrain , ect , but it would be very hard to say one species would be harder at all time over all others . Chasing bear with a switch would be right up there for me though . [>:

I agree to many factors to pick just one, elk are tough to hunt and bring down and a mature whitetail buck doesn't get the handle of "Ghost" or "Elusive" for nothing

Never hunted them but I hear Prong horn are really tough to hunt, but then again I think they are hunted mostly from very long distances on flat open land. But getting close to one I hear is alomost immpossible.

HMMMM Well each one has a toughness all thier own.
1. White tail to me when you are talking about brains.
2. Mountian sheep when it comes to physical demands.
3. Pronghorn when it comes to getting in range (exception would be a blind at a waterhole)
4. Elk for physical demands also, but not like a mountian sheep.
5. The elusive snipe would be at the top of my list though!
When I say mountain sheep I beleive they are actually mountain goats.
I will stick with my white tails, although they are the smartest, my old brain hasn't slowed as much as my body!
