Double smileys for you zrexpilot. I always have a hard time smiling too. After hauling out lunkers like that you're just happy to be propped up with them.

Great bucks. Congrats!

Re. neck shots...
I've only taken one deer w/ a neck shot but can tell you this...
At the shot the deer dropped immediately as if it had been hit by the hammer of Thor. I shot mine as it was facing directely away from me and if you didn't look really close you'd think there was no entrance or exit wound. In my case, it was the only shot that presened itself and was relatively close (60 yards maybe) and my gun was perfectly sighted in and I was shooting from a rest. Confidence also counts here, for w/out it I would have never taken the shot.

To each his own...

Congrats on 2 fine bucks, I have a feeling that the reason your not getting pass throughs with the corloks is because your shooting a .243. I am not knocking the gun at all, as you have clearly shown it is enough gun for deer, but I can tell you 180 grain 30-30 corloks will blow right through them with vicous damage.

He He ! man we can go around and around on this one. a .243 is shooting 1000 fps fastter than the bullet lobbing 30-30. He He LOL. Hell the .243 has even got more energy than the 30-30.
Me and my buddy shot 2 pigs earlier this year with his .300 mag at a distance of 60 yds and failed to pass through either one. One was in the body and one was in the neck. The neck shot one dropped, the one in the body ran a little ways. Both were around 175 lbs. Needless to say we were using the core-junks. While I took one with my .243 at a disatnce of 220-240 yds with hornadys and had a completes pass through and dropped him right there, it also was a neck shot . Also around 175 lbs
