Need a new scope!!!!
Hey guys,
A few days ago I pulled out my .280 to clean it all up before rifle season starts. I looked through my scope and it was messed up. There was a thick fog type thing on the inside of the lens! I tried taking it apart and cleaning it, but, it didn' t work.
Well, yesterday I put the p.o.s. 3-9X32 Simmons on it, which I took offf my .22 Well, the thing is crap, not bad for a .22 but not good for a rifle, so, I need a new scope. Season is approaching quickly (Dec.1st) and I got to get a new scope. I just wanted to ask your opinions on a few models that I am looking at.
1. Cabelas Pine Ridge 3-9X40
2. Buck Ridge Horizon 3-9X40
3. Bushnell Trophy 3-9X40
4. Bushnell Banner 3-9X40
5. BSA Huntsman 4-16X40
I just want whatever is the best deal. I want something that is clear, sharp, waterproof/fogproof/shockproof, in other words, the best scope for under $100.00

The Bushnell trophy is probably the best value at around $60. Here' s a link to a guy that sells scopes; I met him through this forum. He seems like he' ll be more than willing to answer any questions on scopes, and knows his stuff.

Don' t know anything about the buck ridge horizon. The one with the best reputation on your list would be the bushnell trophy. I have a trophy shotgun scope and like it very much. I know a guy that has a few of them and like' s them very much also.
dnrsports.com has them for around $80.
lance, where are you finding them on that website for $60???

RE: Need a new scope!!!!
I just bought a Horizon scope for my new muzzleloader from Cheaper Than Dirt. Check the scope out at www.optronicsinc.com. Lifetime guarenntee, drop it in the creek, step on it, run over it, they will replace it. The one I got was only $59 or something like that. We' ll see in a few days how well built it is.

The Bushnell Trophy is a pretty darn good scope for under 100 bucks. There are several more as well. The Swift 3x9 is about 100.00. I have had one of those on my 280 for quite a while. I think any of the fixed power scopes, even the cheaper ones will hold up for quite a while. I would not be at all afraid of the Cabelas Pine Ridge in the fixed power. They will replace any product they sell. Spending 200-300 bucks on a scope don' t mean you won' t have any trouble. Many of the cheaper scopes have held up well for me for many years.
