I didn't mean to hijack Rockport's post! Sorry! I was told about this buck on Ohio Game Fishing under Bucks and Does. Look for Ashland County Monster and that store is at Rt 250 and Interstate 71 as I live in the next county . Don't know any more details yet. Sorry once again Rockport ! Jim

No worries Jim. it would be cool if you start a new topic about your buck and give us more pictures and the back story. I would definitely read that and so would a lot of other members.

Oh, I don't care.

That buck is certainly better than mine but to answer your previous question mine was killed in Illinois not Ohio.

CI (Mr. Lucky), I've always thought of luck as being more of an opportunity. Being in the right time at the right place and then taking the right actions to take advantage of the opportunity. How many people don't see bucks circling around them or are yakking with each other, on a cell phone, not paying attention, etc.? Not to mention they hiked a lot to be in the right place for the opportunity. I would say that if you've shot several dozen deer, then you're obviously doing something right.
Thanks, I don't really believe in luck even though I use the phrase on occasion. Its more like "chance" you spend time doing things right and eventually it pays off. Trust me it goes wrong for me a lot lol but I only need it to go right every once in awhile.

For every mature buck I get killed a bunch of them turn the wrong way even when Ive done everything right and even more turn the wrong way because Ive done something wrong.

The last 2 mature bucks I have killed everything played out just like you would draw it up but those are the stories I tell. Kind of like a gambler that walks in the casino and hits on $800 and calls bragging to all his buddies but doesn't mention he put $2500 in before he won $800

I hadn't put in the time this year but I did last year and came up empty(I miss judged the yardage on a legit monster and passed on a real good mature buck the evening before firearm season because my daughter and the nice lady that lets me hunts wanted him more than I did) the lady that lets me hunt killed him at first light the next morning and I made the right call for sure as it was a buck of a lifetime for her.

Anyway you just never know when its going to happen, here is the one I didn't shoot last year.

clearly the right decision was made.

That shows allot of character Rock.

Not too many people could pass on a deer like that hoping that someone else gets it at some point in the future.
