Default Easy Drags

I was one lucky old man with drags this year. Took a doe with the crossbow, pass through. She ran about 20 yards and dropped right in the middle of the forest road going up to the cabin. Had to drag her a few feet to get her off the track so I didn't run over her with the truck. A few days later, on Veterans Day, the same crossbow, another pass through, this time on a 10 pt. Not a huge rack, but a big, strong buck (chest measurement indicated 228 # live weight). He ran over 100 yards from that creek bottom where I hit him, up a steep hill. Had to drag him about 20 yards back down the hill to another part of the forest road. I told my wife a few years ago that it won't be long before we need a 4 wheeler. Just not this year!

Thanks, young gun. Not much tracking involved, I could see him for about a third of the trip and then I heard him crash when he went down.

Unless you've done the long tough drags, you don't appreciate and relish the easy ones. Congrats on both deer.

Of my 2 deer this year one was a tough solo drag and the other was a wheeler job.
