Default Kansas hunter killed

A Mound Valley Kansas hunter was killed on Sunday, he was found dead at the base of his treestand by other hunters. It appears he died from an accidental self inflicted gunshot wound to the leg. He was hunting in the early muzzleloader season. Please be carefull everyone, and have a safe deer season.

For want of a nail the shoe was lost ...
If he had only thought to have a radio or(gulp) cell phone with him we wouldn' t have read this . It' s always sad when a fellow hunter meets his fate , sadder still when they won' t take the basic precation of hoisting their gun to the stand before loading it . My heart goes out to his family .

Very sad. Everyone please be careful and hunt safely. And, like Kevin said, take along some form of communication. It doesn' t have to be turned on until you need it, and it could save your life.

Does anyone have any more info on this story. What I' m getting at is was he climbing his stand or something when this happened? I' ve been hunting for over 20 years and I can say that my gun has never been pointed at my own leg?
