Default Which 270 Win Round To Use?

Hey guys,

I've been using 150gr. Rem Core-Lokt ammo forever. I'm thinking of changing to a solid copper round. Anyone reccommend anything or have used any of the following:

Hornady GMX Superformance 130 Solid Copper
Barnes VOR-TX 130 TTSX Solid Copper
Federal Premium Vital Shok 130 Trophy Copper

Thanks

k

All three of the rounds you listed will do essentially the exact same job on deer!

Careful though, you run the risk of being bitten HARD by the monolithic solid bug (Barnes) after just one deer! I know, it bit me back in the 90s & I won't shoot anything else!!!

Good luck,
HL

I have a Remington 700 topped with a Leupold VX-7 and I only shoot the Remington 130gr Accu Tip. That round performs beyond any expectations with this set up. The furthes shot that I have made with this set up is about 240yrds. The round entered high just behind the shoulder. The buck stumbled about 10 yards and fell. When field dressing, everything, I mean everything in the chest cavity was jelly. After cutting the heart loose, I rolled him over and raked out everything else. No exit wound, dumped all the energy inside the deer. I shot one at about 50 yards and had the same results. There are unlimited opinions on your question, I will shoot nothing else. Keep in mind, my set up loves this round and shoots it very accurately. That bullet is awesome in my book. What can you lose by trying it.

Default 130 grain silver tips from winchester

But do not get the ballistic silver tips, just the original. I reload alot of ammo. If you dont reload the regular silver tips are magic.

Ive used rem core lokts for ever in 150 gr out of my .270. Dont plan on using anything else unless i hunt something bigger than deer, maybe. Same with my paps in his 7mm rem mag. they shoot great out of our guns.

Every rifle that I have ever shot that was chambered in 270 Win. seemed to "like" a 130 gr. bullet. By "like" I mean grouped great. Try a few 130 gr. factory rounds and select the one that groups the best. You won't be disapointed.
