Club/Lease Question

RE: Club/Lease Question
As Cajun said, if the club is in his name he can just about do as he pleases. If it is a true club, he should be able to be voted out.
I have been on clubs like this before. If it were a very large club, and he spent a lot of time running it, I would not have that much of a problem with him not paying dues. However, on a 4 person club you are paying 1/3 more than you should be so that he can hunt for free, when the only " work" he is doing is collecting money from only 3 other people!
It seems to me you have 3 possible choices. Look into voting him out, look for another place to hunt, or pay up! Unless this place is super great, or is a lot cheaper than the surrounding leases, you could be hunting for a third less than you are paying now! Good luck!

RE: Club/Lease Question
I have heard this is a pretty common practice. On our lease the camp boss pays the same as all the members, but I don' t thing this is usually the case. In many cases the camp boss will pay less or nothing at all as a way of being compensated for his extra duties. I am not sure how I feel about this; I' m glad its not that way on my lease.

RE: Club/Lease Question
I have a friend that pays $800 a year for a little over a thousand acres, has a house, own barn, tractor, the whole nine yards.. well there are 10 members to the club.. 7 out of 10 pay.. for some unknown reason the president, his son, and his sons " bestfriend" get to hunt for free (and the son and the bestfriend) were convicted of spotlighting!!![:@].. i was going to join this club last season but i just happened to ask if the president payed.. im sure glad i did..

RE: Club/Lease Question
You said that he didn' t pay the last 3 years?
Propose that he catch up by paying the other three dues this year and you and the other two guys can split his part $0.00 three ways.

RE: Club/Lease Question
C. Davis, I really like your idea There was no agreement when this all started. What happened was 3 years ago we lost one tract of land. Until that time it was $1000 for the entire lease which came up to $250 per member. Since we lost one of the tracts it is now only $750 but the members are still paying $250 each. All this kind of went over my head and I never even thought about it until the president slipped and let the cat out of the bag. During this conversation I could tell he knew he said too much but I acted as though I didn' t catch so I would have time to think this over. This is by far the best hunting land I' ve ever been on so I' d really hate to lose it over a disagreement like this but at the same time I feel like I' ve been taken advantage of. I still haven' t decided how to handle this so nothing has been said yet. I' m hoping to find another lease and get out all together but around here hunting land is hard to come by.
