real nice late season VA buck
first off id like to say this is my second buck ive ever shot, firs buck was a little 3 pointer, and ive only shot 2 other does before..so my forth deer ive ever killed, im 17. i shot this trophy on my familys private land, at about 8:30 saturday dec. 31, 2011. i was sitting in a ladder stand on the top of a ridge, i had just seen 8 does come across the side of the ridge infront of me. about 30 minutes later i heard somethin come flyin down the ridge behind me and stop about half way up, i didnt get too excited thinkin it was just another doe. then i heard the leaves crunchin real fast and this trophy buck ran the rest of the way up the hill and stopped about 30 yards behind me on the 4 wheeler trail. i couldnt count how many points cause i was in such shock at this beast and he stopped between 2 trees quartering to me, so all i could see way the base of his neck and his shoulder, so i aimed to the front of his shoulder sense he was quarting to me. i shot and knew i hit him good, he wasnt running on the front leg with his tail limped over but yet still raised. i watched this buck run about 30 yards to the side of my stand trip over a falled tree and crash. best sight ive ever seen, i pack another shot in my muzzleloader just incase he were to get up, id rather be ready. so i get down and start walkin over to him and this is what i come to see.....
a nice heavy 11 point buck, in some photos you can see the extra point behind his brow tine...he had still be horning trees like crazy, cause he had fresh bark shavings all over his bases. its a priviledge to finally get a nice one. not a bad second buck if you ask me, and what a way to end the year!
