We have baited on our land for many years now using mainly corn, it seems to attract mainly does and fawns from what we see, we really don't have anyone hunt right over them, but it is fairly centralized on our land and it is fairly easy to bust deer walking to it. I see absolutly nothing unethical about it (unless in a disease ridden area), at least it is real, as in corn is a real food that deer eat, I have heard people say it is unethical to bait yet they spray every man made chemical they can buy on as well as using animal calls to lure deer. I do not see that as being any better than baiting. That being said, like i stated earlier, it seems that we mostly would see fawns and does going to it, even on the cameras at night. Those of us up there that are hittin bucks, are hundreds of yards away from the corn.
Good luck

Don't listen to the people who talk down on Sent killer sprays... Sent Killer is popular for one reason... BECAUSE IT WORKS!!! I give a lot of credit to it last year. I took a big mature 9 pointer last year. I am afraid of hights so my tree stand is only 10 feet off the ground.... .... The deer was straight down wind of me and came within 20 yards before I put my arrow through him. before I went out that morning I really sprayed everything down with the sent killer...

Will sent killer work 100% of the time? Maybe not... But I know after last year I am going to use it 100% of the time!

Happy Hunting!

with common sense you can do your own scent control without spending hardly any money. those who do nothing for scent control are likely not killing some of the older smarter bucks in there hunting area. i love it when guys in my area tell this crap. it just makes them more likely to run a big ol buck to my stand.

bait is for guys that haven't learned to hunt, simple you just setting at the dinner table waiting, thats not hunting. the texas baiting laws have spred nation wide because of hunting shows. there excuse is its to thick to see those buck unless you bait, lol. they actaully believe texas is the only state with thickets. thos thickets are full of trails, just like everywhere else in the country, setup on a good trail and hunt. no bait.

What a disaster! I put this stuff in my corn feeder and put out a block. The corn feeder I had been using for a year was clogged up in a couple of days. The smell turned putrid and it started growing some kind of plant. I had to empty it all out and then I tried it again, same results. Cleaned it out a again and put just corn in it and it works fine. The block was gone in two days, looked like a raccoon had rolled it away on the second day. The inch or two of material left at bottom of block turned black and smelled like a cross between a carcass and feces. Attracted thousands of flys and took two weeks for the stench to dissipate. I still have a block and a bag of this stuff and can't think of anyone I dislike enough to give it to! Not only did I not have any deer on my camera eating this stuff, the deer at my best spot dissappeared all together. Just fortunate I tried it early enough to get rid of it before the season started. All I can think about is they never tried it in the south. Worst, messiest, most disgusting attractant I have ever tried. Makes me sick to see them hustling people on TV, almost as sick as the smell after a few days on the ground.

Corn works, and no it's not unethical. You can add some grape cool-aid if the deer aren't used to a feeder being there.Main thing don't over hunt it and find how they are coming to the feeder and hunt there(just like a food plot or oak tree).

Bingo !!

Just because its legal it gets to pass itself off as a legitimate hunting practice in some people's minds.
I can't imaging getting much satisfaction out of shooting a deer over a bait pile.

Then I guess you do not hunt around any kind of farmers field, or Oak trees that have acorns falling or fruit orchards that deer feed on or natural feeding spots. I can't imagine you getting much satisfaction out of shooting a deer over a place where they feed. Just because it is legal it gets passed off as a legitimate hunting practice in some people's mind.

And some people think they can set the standards for all others to follow for some reason.

I've planted all types of food plots, some good, some bad, so that question is wide open.

As for my personal scent. Here in Georgia, bow season now opens in September and 95/100 degrees. The first climber I bought was a Baker. You put it around the tree, feet in the stirrups, no seat, huged the tree and climbed, skined up chest and arms. By the time you quit climbing you would be soaking wet with sweat. Some times I carried another t-shirt to change into after I cooled off a bit. Always killed deer and no such thing as scent blocker, just worked the wind. \\

Dog1 your a old fart, if you remember using bakers.

So sitting under a white oak dropping acorns and shooting deer is unethical?I mean it's feeding deer so it could be called a "feeder".

Our property is all 15 year old clear cut. You can't see 10 yards in most places. This is in PA. It's tough hunting for sure. We're not allowed to bait so we've been hunting it without bait and still manage to shoot a few. Bait would sure make it easier, but not an option. Rattling and grunting gets the bucks to show in clearings during the rut, though. That's the best shot we have. That and trying to be at the right place at the right time.
