Two for one sale this morning!
Well, hubby and I went out this morning and by 7:30, that wonderful man had called in these two beauties. I took them both within about 30 seconds of each other. Took the 11 point buck down first from about 150 yards, and when the doe took off, hubby blew another toot through his grunt call, stopped her in her tracks about 30 yards from me, and I got her too! Not bad for my first kill(s)!!! LOL

got eight-pointer two weeks ago, 10 Nov. Public land in NC, near creek... great spot, been hunting there for years (it's shrinking due to encroaching developement)
9am, about fifty years. hit in neck, DRT. Marlin 336 in 30-30

Went yesterday, day after Thanksgiving, a couple hundred yards further down the creek from where I got the above 8pt. Good area. Mid-30s temp, walking in as it's starting to get light, it's light by the time I'm in the tree. About 40 yards from wide but dryish creek. Cold. Cold. Nothing; I'm thinking we're hitting that post-rut slump when the hunting gets harder. Then, across the creek, I hear that noise you feel before you hear it, that raises heart rate. I actually ignored it for a sec, then looked.... nice deer moving along creek, and a good pace. Swung rifle - couldn't get good sight picture, too much stuff between us... then he disappears in fold of the land... a minute later comes up in view. 100 yards of so (long ways for me in woods). I grunt, he stops, I shoot. He jumps, walks off stiff-legged and unsteady - I keep rifle on him, about to lever in another and shoot... he wobbled and goes down.

This has been a GREAT season.. freezers full.
