I start anytime now. One reason is just to get out. And if there is snow on the ground, even though that may make it tough to find sheds, it helps to find the trails, fence or stream crossings, the thicker cover and so on. Alot of questions that can be answered with snow on the ground. Never know when or where, but I can bet they won't drop next to the couch.

I was at a 3d shoot today and a guy came in about noon with a set of sheds off a big nine point. Said he found them actually on top of each other at the base of a cedar. Almost like he wanted them off and just beat around on that cedar tree. I still haven't got any pics of bucks that have shed yet.

I found some yesterday. But 3 days ago I also saw 2 fully racked bucks. It all depends on your situation. If others go into your areas, earlier may help you find sheds first(which is why I was out so soon)
If you don't have to worry, then march is fine. But by then I am wanting to do more fishing than shed hunting.

Found these yesterday. The set I found was in a thicket of small pines. The other small one I found was in some mature oaks. It had already been chewed up pretty good by the squirrels.

In deep snow country deer yard up in dense conifer groves. To prevent disturbing them during this harshest of all seasons we wait until they break loose from their yards. This keeps them alive, and gives us concentrated areas to find the sheds. Please don't disturb deer in their yards, it can prove fatal as they use so much energy wading in deep snow.

I have already started. It's a good excuse to get into the Deer woods.
