Thanks for the comments so far. It sounds like several of you have been happy with the Stoeger 2000 and I liked the comments about the 935 as well. Vabyrd, I can tell you like your Berretta, but price doesn't always = quality. I bought my 870 eight years ago and it still shoots as good as ever with almost no maintenance. It has chambered 1000s of rounds and brought down 100s of birds (some with 3 1/2 inch shells to boot). I bought it new for less than $300.00. If all the guns I listed are garbage, including the 870, I know for a fact that your opinion is the only thing that is foul. However, if you've had specific problems with any of these guns I would love some more constructive input.

Spend $700 on a used Beretta, and you're ahead. spend 500 bucks on one of those, and someone might give you 300 for it.
Price is what you pay, value is what you get...
Having said that, Benelli's are great too. I just not as familiar with them..

Then you wouldn't know that the Stoeger 2000 uses the same operating mechanism as the much revered Super Black Eagle... Just because it's made in Turkey doesn't or that it only cost $400, doesn't mean that it's junk. You revere the 870, but I've had two 870's that were junk and I'd take my Stoeger over either of them any day. Have you ever shot a Stoeger, or do you base your opinion solely on the price of the gun?

Don't get the Mossberg. I know WAY to many jammer Mossbergs. I have a Beretta AL391 Urika, and have had it for about 8 years now, and it has NEVER jammed on me; and I hunt a LOT. Deer, turkey, pheasant, rabbits, duck, geese...you name it I hunt it (in Iowa lol).

If you think your getting a $1000 shotgun for $400, you're mistaken.
And, if you bought an 870 in the past few years, it probably was junk. I wouldnt touch one of those laminated, bead blasted, plastic POS for free. What do you expect for a $235 shotgun?

If it shot like a $1000 shotgun, do you think it would sell for $400? Stoeger is NOT the same as Benelli. IF it was, why doesn't it sell for the same?? Why are Benellis twice as much? Its called Economics.

How is a $1000 shotgun supposed to shoot, exactly? If my gun is reliable, which it is, patterns well, which it does, fits and points well, and uses the same action, what does the Benelli offer that the Stoeger doesn't? The finish? Is that worth the extra $700 the Benelli would cost? Not to me.

What no Benelli on the list? Price i guess but if you want a shotgun that you can put through the ringer and have forever they would be my choice. I have 3 myself one for each kid and then there is mine. I have the M2 and I wouldn't take for it. I've actually used it to paddle the boat a few times. Once I was wading out to retrieve a duck (dog took the day off lol) and my foot got stuck in the soft bottom. Water was about 3-4ft deep and I started to fall forward. My gun was in my hand (cause ducks always fly in when you are fetching a downed bird). I tried to catch my balance but it was too late, I fell forward. I put the gun out in front to catch myself from going all the way under and I sunk it about 6 inches of mud. Swished it around in the water to get the mud off, pulled it out turned the barrel down and let all the water run out. Kicked out the shells loaded three more then shot two birds that were flying in over top of me. I used to think the commercial they have with the duck commander was a joke but now I believe.
