First deer hunting firearm
Do you guys still have your first deer hunting firearm? I do, acutally it was mine and then my younger brother's also. It's a Remington 7400 in the 243 caliber. Wis Bow Hunter made me think about it yesterday with his post so i broke it out and cleaned it.
Oh the memories, I took two does with it and missed countless deer. I vividly remember missing a doe five times from 40 yds and running out of rifle bullets. I was shaking so bad I don't even know if I hit anywhere near the doe. The doe just stood there and finally went back to feeding on the food plot. My dad saw the whole scene from his climbing stand 300 yds away. He asked me why i didnt reload the gun and try again, i told him i left the rest of the ammo in the truck.
To this day, I never get in the stand with less than 10 rounds on me (although I am a very accurate shooter now).

My first was a Marlin 30-30. It was my dads, he still has it. I also had a 20ga Winchester 1300. I still have that too. I remember using them, but i didnt do much with them. I started bowhunting at young age and i shot my first deer with a bow, i didnt shot a deer with a gun until about 5 years after i was shooting deer with a bow, Shot a lot of deer with a bow before a gun, i still dont take many with a firearm.

I still have my second deer hunting gun because we traded my first one in to buy the second. I had a single shot 20 gauge that we traded in for a 20 gauge Remington 870 Wingmaster. I never plan on parting ways with that gun. It is still the best gun I own.

I did the same thing but with my old 20ga pump and it was my first buck that I saw ( I was like 14). I missed 4 times and tried to reload but I was shaking so hard I dropped my extra bullets out of tree stand!

The first firearm I hunted with was my dad's Winchester model 71, 348cal. Shot my first deer with it in 1978.
I still use my first deer hunting rifle. Purchased around 1981, a Remington model 4, 308cal.

Still have it, a Marlin model 55 bolt action 12 gauge. My dad gave it to me in 1972 back when New Jersey was buckshot only. When I was about 20, I was working in a machine shop and I cut the barrel to 20", drilled and tapped the receiver, machined a custom sccope mount, free floated the barrel, and glass bedded the receiver. Out to 100 yards I'd put it up against any slug gun out there.
