Scent-Loc worth it?

RE: Scent-Loc worth it?
I have scent-lock pants and a jacket that are light weight. They were on sell a year or so back. I wasn't sure if they would work, but they were cheap so I bought them.
I'm still not sure if they work or not I killed deer before I bought them and I've killed deer after so at least it didn't hurt. I needed some light weight hunting clothes anyways so it was worth a try.
I do manage my scent by playing the wind and I wash my hunting clothes in the scent free stuff. That seems to be working for me.

I do have to admit, Scent-Lok does have the most vibrant camo colors I have seen. I would probably buy some of their stuff just for that. All of the other stuff I see at Bass Pro, Gander, and Sportsmans Warehouse are either faded looking or fade after one wash.

I take scent precautions on day trips, but then go to deercamp in the Ozark hills and killmy best deer after a week with no shower. Chuck Adams once said it didn't matter if you took all the scent precautions or sat in stand smoking a cigar, if a deer got downwind, he wouldbust you.Several years later, he had changed his mind in an advertisement for scenteliminating clothing. Go figure.

You have to remember.... Scent-Lok's carbon membrane is basically just peppered with activated carbon. It even says on the tag that you should try to only wash their garments a couple times throughout the season.
Military MOPP Suits (Chemical Suits) have a membrane with solid activated carbon and they're only rated for several washing PERIOD and, IIRC, 45 days of continuous use. How affective could Scent-Lok actually be if it has just a fraction of the absorbing material that our military grade suits have???

It works great!!!! I will always use it. I dont think it takes 100% of your scent away, but it takes enough away that the deer dont spook. The only thing with it is that you have to re-activate it a bunch depending on how much you use it. I re-activate mine once a week and my facemask every 3 days. 2008 was the first year I went 100% scent-lok and did not get busted at all! Great product!

Another $.02 and worth at least $.01. I am not saying it does not work. Just that I have never used this product. The hunters' reviews I read all over the place, and the talk around the camps I have been in over the past 5 years or so .... well just not enough positives for me to pay the extra $$$. I do try I have always tried my best to ease in and out as undetected as practical, use the wind to my advantage, set-up off the ground when it made sense to do so and was possible. This is the same-o, same-o any experienced deer hunter would do. And it has worked well. Do I have a wall of 150+ racks? No. I have only one. I do 90% of my deer hunting in SE Alabama on a free range , 3150 acres. We are loaded with good deer down this way, but just not many of this class down this way. Do I get my share every year? Yep, have for decades. So I'm either very lucky or very good. Knowing me the way I do, it ain't the skill !!!

As an engineer or just using common sense, it seems to me that even if a garment held scent in from underneath, it would still have to be scentless itself. In otherwords, you may be holding in your body odor, but your scent-lok is still going to smell like your closet or your pickup or whatever the outerlayer has been exposed to.
Most people I know don't use anything except maybe some spray on stuff. I keep all my hunting clothes in tupperware with cedar shavings and pine needles, and I put on my top two layers after I get out of the truck and I am standing in the woods. If you do that and keep the wind in mind, you should to pretty good.
