.243 range
I agree with the .243 being a good deer rifle. I wanna know what a decent range for it is tho. My sister is looking at buying one, how far is to far? She shoots all the time with me and is becoming a great shot, but if she will be shooting a 100 grain bullet, how far is ok (assuming she can be accurate at that range)on deer sized game? thanks for the help!

RE: .243 range
I've only killed around 175 with mine over the last 28 years, the longest kill ona deer was about 300 yards...
Just this past season, I killed one at a ranged 277 yards, he did go about 15 yards...This was with 100gr CoreLokts...

Using the rule of 1000 fps and 600 lbs of energy to kill a deer effectivley and a 100 gr Remington Core-loft you can shoot a deer justpast 500 yards if you practice and know that your rifle can shoot that far accurately.

RE: .243 range
For 300 yards in, a 243 Win. and quality 100 gr. bullet will definitely do the trick. Unless you are hunting some really wide open country, shots beyond 250 yards are going to be the exception anyway.
