The principle from the fund is not touched...The interest is spent on programs like building boat ramps, buying game land, stocking programs, training, etc...So far 32 million in interest has been used for these programs...

Bad idea to just " wing it ". Especially considering that something as simple as game law violations can end any pursuit of certain employment opportunities.
As in most cases in life, doing endruns around the law usually catches up to individuals in the long run.

what did you think would happen. Democrats are looking for any way possilbe to take money out away from you. They think by raising FEE's, they won't have to call it a tax increase. That is what is happening here in Wisc. Our liberal gov is raising all fee's so he can say "i didn't raise taxes". however, fee's are taxes

If the fees were doubled, I would continue to pay.
I also view anyone who takes games illegally, especially without a current license, as a poacher.
IMHO, there is no such thing as 'taking chances'.
Either you hunt with legal integrity or you don't. Either way you are either a hunter or a paocher.

Here in Wisconsin the license fees are still way cheaper than the fines. I just got checked by a game warden a few days ago while ice fishing. I spent $20 for the license and if I hadn't purchased that license he would have definitely nailed me with a fine of over $150. If you get caught poaching a deer in Wisconsin I think the fine is over $1,000 but I'm not positive.

Although I don't agree with a big increase in price for a hunting license,I would pay it just because I love deer and turkey hunting so much.In my state,I doubt very seriously that there will be a big increase if at all.I keep up with our state legislature, and an increase hasn't even been mentioned. The big issue down here(MS) is legalizing hunting over bait which most everyone already does anyway.

They doubled in indiana a few years back. That year i bounght a life time license, hunt and fish $708.
That year they made over 10 million dollars on them sales, then they figured out they would never get nothing again. They raised them up to 1200 and something for a year or two and quit selling them. The regular license doulbed back then to and hunting as been down every sense.
Now this year the insurance company's are calling foul and their trying to lower the price and up the bag limit.

I'm with nchawkeye, I have a lifetime license, so I don't care what happens. If I didn't have the lifetime, I would pay what they ask. I'm not going to stop hunting anytime soon and I wouldn't hunt without a license.Guys, if your state offers a lifetime license, you need to take advantage of it. I'm sure it's cheaper in some states than others, but it's definately worth forking out the money. In LA. it's still pretty cheap, $300 for lifetime hunting and $500 for lifetime hunting/fishing combo.

If your state offers a lifetime license now is the time to buy one, even if you have to "put it on the plastic" to do it. It's the best money you'll ever spend.
