Check out this web site www.thechameleonblind.com there for tree stands, strap-ons, ladders and climbers. I want to get 1 for next yr because I got busted twice this yr by Does, they saw me me move just a hair. Hope this helps.

Depends on the terrain around your stand. Because a deers vision is just as goodvertical as horizonal.U don't hear people talk about a deers vision that way.

When I put up a ladder stand I usually put it in a hemlock or cedar tree also. Thebest cover for a tree in the open is height. I was getting busted all the time and I started going 5 feet higher and it solved my problem. You need to be out of eyeshot, get above them out of line of sight. Remember that they can see 270 degrees and if you can see any part of their eye, they can pick up your movement. Make sure thereis a tree or brush between you and the deer if you need to get in to position to shoot or move.

never higher.
i use ladder stand mostly.
i ALWAYS pick tree with limbs sticking out on side and as big as i can find.
wind in small tree is no good in winter, you will sway all over.
now, i like sun at my back,never in my face.no matter which way deer come.
i get busted too,cant stop it ,weather changes etc.
only way to reduce it is too have 2 or 3 stands out.
i guess if i was asked what is most important thing, i would say having your stand in right place for wind.
wind is one you have to worry most about,not the way you look in tree.
gun season, you can get away with not worrying about wind as much as your shots are longer but in archery, man, you have to be downwind ,if you can..
this is why some get up real high, like 30 ft.
I DO NOT SUGGEST ANYONE DO THIS, ITS NOT WORTH IT FOR DEER,TOO HIGH.
