Is it too late for deer calls?

RE: Is it too late for deer calls?
Never too late. Curiosity can bring them in year round, though they work better durring certain stages of the rut than others. If you are not seeing spot and stalking, or need to get them to move around in thick cover, then you won't hurt anything by trying in my opinion.

In VA.
During muzzle loader season I called a nice 8 pointer out with the can call. A few weeks later I used it and a coyote came out. Not sure if I should use it now or just sit quiet.

IMO, late season deer are too smart for calls. Maybe a small curious 3 pt, butthey may even spook bigger deer.

.....maybe.... this one came charging in mad as hell after 3 short grunts and 5 minutes in the stand. Mid December in NE Indiana.....

I don't think that can really scares too many deer. I don't leave home without the bleat can during the rut. If the ruts not on I don't call very much if any. I hunt food sources before the rut.
