Default button bucks...whats going on?

this has been a wild season for me...here in illinois i shot a button buck sunday morning 1st season(thought it was a doe) and again sunday second season(thought it was a doe) and my uncle shot one friday morning second season (thought it was a doe) i feel bad, because both of mine were larger bodied fawns (80-90lbs) and looked like they had great potentialand i honestly did not find out they were button bucks until i went to gut them...so now i wonder, whats going on? i guess the logical thing to think would be that we hada "bucky" spring or somthing, idk
