My first few deer were taken with a .30-06. Then switched to a .243 for several years. This year, I'm using a 7mm Rem. Mag. with Remington's Managed Recoil ammo. All Remington 700's. Next year, I'll likely go back to the .243... Or, I just might use an M1A .308 on a buck, and an AR15 .223 on a doe, or two...

My go to gun is a Rem. 700 .260. I also have a BAR 30-06 that hasn't seen any action in 4 years. Nothing wrong with the 06 but the .260 is a sweet shooter. Quarter sized groups or less @100yds., low recoil and dead deer.........hard to go back to the BAR. Just bought my son a Rem. 700 7mm-08........jury is still out on it.

I shoot a 300 win. mag. and a 6.5x55 swedeish mauser. Overall the best out of the two rly depends on the game and grain bullet ur shooting....i dont reload for the 300 i just shoot the Remington 150gr Core-Lokts. UR rite with it i can hit a deer in the ass and itl die! lol But its very accurate with alot of KE. The 6.5x55 is easily my favorite! I reload for it and im shooting 129 gr Hornady SP and a 140gr Hornady SP. I can outshoot anything in my safe with it! Not quite the fastest or the hardest hitting...but does the job perfectly!

I'll just keep my Winchester 30-30,thank you.only deer rifle i own...........and since i hunt here in Pa, it's the best thing to carry to wade through thick brush or set up an ambush on a tree stand.with the 170 grains......i have only had one deer take a hit & move off, only to be shot by another hunter a few yards away. The rest took up space in my freezer!

I shoot my .338WM and almost everything. Might be a bit over kill for deer but I can put the bullet were I want. I do have a .270 that I am trying to get dialed in...and will most likely become my deer and antelope gun.
