OHIO deer hunters
Hello: I'm heading to your great state for the first time next week to hunt the Dec. 1 firearms opener. Hunting Guernsey County near the town of Kimbolton arriving next Sunday. How do things look? Is the deer population healthy in that area and are there adequate numbers of mature (3 1/2 year old) bucks? I'll be hunting private property. Any recommendations for a place to get a good meal in Kimbolton? Is there a license outlet with a retailer in Kimbolton that is open on Sunday to buy a NR deer license? Any info' would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Don't expect to see many mature bucks...
December 1st is post-rut, so you'll have to be a little lucky.
The deer population is very healthy, comparable to the last few years. The weather during gun season last year was miserable and therefore the take was VERY low. This was balanced by the loss of deer to the various diseases. I found 2 deer dead (presumably from disease - close to water) on my 100 acres.
Good luck, you can't go wrong in Ohio, especially Guernsey county.
