Trick to keep handwarmers useful for longer.
Although the MO season still has 5 days left, a combination of work and a relatives surgery has effectively ended my season (with no deer darn it.) However, as is has been insanely cold for much of the area, I figured I'd share a little trick I'd learned. Say you open a couple of handwarmers and only use them for a couple of hours. I don't know about you, but they get expensive after a while, and even though I'd probably go out that afternoon, that's at least a couple of hours of downtime that I'm not using them. What I do is get a ziplock baggie. Make sure it has no holes in it. Put the warmers flat in them and fold the baggie up, while pressing as much air out as possible. Zip it up. The bag will probably get hot while it uses the available oxygen, but it does cool off provided there are no leaks. When you need them again, open the bag and there you go!

This is a great idea. My wife uses handwarmers. We tried it and it worked, but this idea led me to another idea. If you have a vacuum food sealer use it and it will suck virtually all the air out of the bag. Cut the bag quite a bit longer than needed and you can reseal and reuse it several times.
