Darn!
About 10 minutes ago I almost called my parents to see if I can go take a walk across the street and bring my bow. Technically im not supposed to hunt by myself because I am 14 but I was just going to walk into my hunting area across the street from my house and walk back out. When I was walking into the field right across the street I noticed a very fresh rub on the tree and Im thinking.... "Wow thats weird, deer rarely ever use this field" About 20 feet after that I noticea brown object laying in the knee high grass about 6 feet from me. I almost just walked right past thinking it was dead grass or something but I took a double take. I start walking towards it and when I was about 2-3 feet away a nice little spike buck jumps up and ran away! I am obviously dissapointed because there arent too many deer in the area I hunt currently and I almost brought my bow.
This just goes to show you how well deer can hide and no matter how close you are to them you might not ever even see them....

RE: Darn!
Be carefull about breaking the gam laws. Even though you may have got away with it it sets up a bad pattern you realy don't want.
That being said. If I had planned to hunt tomorrow I would not have been in the area walking around. If there is alot of human presence anyway you likely be fine. If not you may want to be carefull not to educate them on where and when you hunt. They are smarter than you may think. The do things for a reason (to stay alive)
Imagine if every decision you make was life or death...you'd get smart quick.
If you didn't watch your sent I'd stay out for a few days. But if its your only spot...I'd probably give it a go... The other option is not going at all ...I'd rather risk it as not go.
Thats my opinion anyway..,
Good luck,
Jason

Yah, I think this particular deer is pretty used to us going in and out of there because before the season started I would put apples out in the area and he would be there with in 20 minutes.

RE: Darn!
i have absolutely no luck! I just went out for the past few hours, then come back into my driveway.... My dog sees me and starts barking. I look in my back yard and see the back end of a deer running into the woods[&o]. If he didnt bark i might have had a chance at it.
