RE: Spears?
You guys are always way ahead of us in the great white north. The best we have is a spring spear season for Pike. It gets more exiting when the turtle and bull frog seasons open.

PABohunter, andTaz: How could you safely get your Mother in law out to the woods without an innocent person getting hurt?
All I can say about the spear chucking season is "only in Alabama"

RE: Spears?
Thundermug I use two paper bags for transporting her, the second one is just in case the first one falls off, now once I am in the stand I simply tie a rope to the bag and when a deer looks her way I pull the bag off. It is kind of neat, because your weapon can be a good distance away from you. The only drawback to this hunting method is getting the deer out of the tree they tend to land in after being scared to death.

Seriously, I think I am going to go check out the extensive PA regs book to see if Spear hunting is even allowed here. It would be interesting if it was.

I remember reading in a Peter Capstick book about him trying to kill a Cape Buffalo with a spear. I think it was "Safari: The last adventure." Might be wrong about the title. It almost killed him, his back-up guy shot it with a rifle.
