on our family farm they have a walk in cooler for when they do hogs and cattle so we do all of your deer there

At first I took it to our local processor, but now have been doing it myself for several years now. If my son had his say he wouldwant me to take it and get the whole deer made into slim sticks.

I do my own, we have no shortage of processors here, but most charge more than it's worth to me. I also like knowing that the deer in my freezer is the one I actually shot, and that all the parts I wanted to keep are still there.

my own, mainly because I have a custom killing and processing permitt since me and my father process cattle and hogs during the winter months. We processed for hunters for the hungry oneyear but we got way to many shotup deer to justify using. Some of the deer brought in had been left out and spoiled, as well as some looked as if they had been run over by trucks LOL. Alot of hunters like walking right up to a crippled deer and blowing the whole wad into the neck or shoulder and then wonder why they dont get much meat back. We only process deer into steaks, deer burger/sausage, and chops though. We do process for a few local hunters though, but Im not sure if we will this year or not. It only takes me 6mins to completely break down/skin/quarter a deer Helps growing up butchering animals since I was 5 LOL

I cut my own deer. Its just too expensive. My buddies Grandmothers table sees about 10-12 deer a year. We will take a couple days and cut them all up. Chops, roasts, burger, and jerky is about all we eat.

I take mine to have processed for many reasons. The biggest are time and weather. Deer season here is usually below freezing and often a foot or two of snow on the ground. I have no outside water in the winter and I have a disease that prevents my hands from working in cold temperatures. In the summer, I butcher around 100 chickens on the farm so I have my fill of eviscerating, cutting and wrapping meat by the end of summer. Plus I know the processor guy personally so that helps a lot. I work a full time job and to me, my hard earned money is worth it to pay someone else to do a job that I would physically have a hard time doing in the colder weather.

I used to take mine to a processor but after seeing how some of the deer are handled , I started doing it myself . I bought a vacuum sealer and can't wait to use it .

How much are you fellers payin to have a deer processed??? Sounds like a lot, here I only pay $40/deer, and I guarantee you mine does as good a job or better than anybody. Ifmeor one of my buddieskills one offpublic grounds here around Auburn like the Tuskegee NF, we all get together, drink beer,process it under one of many skinnin' racks,and eat the backstraps fresh off the bone.As one of mygood buddies says, "Fresh backstraps and Budweiserought to havebeen at the Lord's Supper!" If I'm huntin back home on the weekend, I usually just take it to the processor and let him do it all for just $40. You can't beat that. I'm a big advocate of doing things yourself, but my processor will prepare any part of the deer any way you like it for just $40, and I have never been disappointed in his work. If I had to pay anywhere near $100 to have one processed,you bet your asss I would do it myself in a heartbeat. So how much would y'all have to pay to have a deer cut up?
