Get above them
get downwind of them
shoot them before they have a chance to smell you.
Shower before going hunting and use scent killer
scent free soaps for body and hair
wash your clothes in scentless or hunting soap pay attention to gun bow etc also
never wear your hunting clothes boots etc, anywhere but in the woods
get dressed in hunting garb and put your boots on after you get to your hunting location (never drive your truck with them on!!!)
keep them in sealed tupperware bins or plastic bags to and from

The guys before me are right but its all about repitition and sticking to a schedule... shower dont wear deoderant get gas on days you are NOT going to hunt change your clothes after you shut your truck off... take them off before you get back into your truck dont touch anything with bare hands in the woods. Never hunt the same stand for more than 3 consecutive days... if a deer busts you froma stand dont hunt that stand for atleast a week.

all the above and I use fox or raccoon urine in the early season, not as a cover scent, but a confidence builder,mr. whitetail knows his woods neighbors are no danger to him and wouldn't be in the area if danger were near, but if you smell like human stuff you cant cover it up with cover scents, getting rid of the odor is the only way to see deer, not covering it up! GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks fellows,
I am still frustrated over a hunting incident last Dec.
I bathe all my clothes in Baking soda.
I hunted down wind..
I was 14 foot high in my Summit..
I had my back to the deer and the tree was wider than me..
I gave a call on my Primos..I heard a sound like a chipmonk scratching leafs.about 15 yds behind me. I peeked ..It was a huge wide buck especailly for Florida..When he walked past me he would be mine.but instead he stopped. he waited ..he stomped..he disappeared.
The only thing I may have done to mess myself up was touching branches coming to my spot.

Tough luck but don't feel like your the only one to get busted. Sounds like you did everything right. Really hard to tell what made the buck take off. Could have been nothing you did? I think they know sometime when there is danger, the nature of the beast. I pretty much do the same as you.
